About Me
My name is Briony Hemmings, and I’m a nature and travel writer.

I grew up in Wales, Cornwall, and Ireland, learning to explore riverbanks and follow sheep trails long before I ever learned to navigate a city. My curiosity developed and helped me explore my three great passions: solo adventure, parrots, and the natural world.
My love of macaws has pulled me everywhere from a small town in Yorkshire to the forests of rural Brazil, while my passion for travelling solo has carried me through the backstreets of Istanbul and Singapore, all the way to the midnight markets of Hong Kong.

I’m neurodiverse, which for me simply means I rarely take the most direct route. But it’s usually in those unscripted detours that I find the most compelling details.
Much of my work explores how our inner worlds respond to the natural world. My stories are guided by a slightly unreliable internal GPS and fuelled by a deep curiosity about animals, people, and the experiences that shape us.
